Sleeping Giant puppies come from many generations of healthy, intelligent Labradors with wonderful temperaments
All the dogs selected by Sleeping Giant Labradors for breeding have been certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Their hips must be rated Good or better and their elbows normal. Their eyes are examined yearly by a veterinarian certified by the Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF). They are also tested for three inheritable diseases: Centromuclear Myopathy (CNM), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Progressive Retinal Atophy (PRA). Our puppies are whelped and raised in our home with plenty of time outdoors. The pups are introduced to new people, children, noise, water, stairs, other animals, retrieving and live birds before they leave our care.
Each pup is marked and their personalities are evaluated from birth to determine in what type of home environment he or she would be best suited. For example, a family with children who want a house pet would not do well with a dominant pup who would be happiest outside in the field hunting. When possible we bring in an outside party to test our pups using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test .
We use the Super Dog Program of early neurological stimulation and socialization. Puppies raised by this method have proven to be high achievers.
All of our puppies come with written health guarantees for hips, elbows and eyes.
Each puppy will be microchipped before going to its new home.
Puppies are sold with a “limited” AKC registration unless other arrangements have been made with Sleeping Giant Labradors.
